Spring Summer 2010: Fashion trends

Posted in Fashion, Trends on December 29, 2009 by NumberSeventySix

‘Ode to Nature’
An homage to nature
Modern ceremonies, half pagan, half religious, which evoke the goddesses and vestal virgins of antiquity, pre Raphaelite paintings and symbolism. A romantic, spiritual, poetic appeal.

Colours
Soft serene palette. Chalky, light faded, powder colours are accompanied by more intense shades of taupe and mauve. Dynamic springtime pastels and pinks, yellow greens, yellow and vibrant green.

Silhouette
Stretched in length to emphasise vertical structure. Fluid dapery. Antique toga inspiring shapes, garments. Drawstring shapes, twisted effects, knots and braids. Elegant with ease.

Fabrics
Light and fluid; crepe, crepon, voile, gauze and fine tulle. Layer for young romantic moods. Undefined blurry motifs.

‘Popular Appeal’
Alternatively chic and more wild
A playful girly mood juggling vintage patterns and faded 60’s and 70’s American colours create a mundane atmosphere with a twisted angle.

Colours
Cheerful, slightly faded colours evoking the 70’s. Muffled tones, pale blues, faded beige, soft khaki. Collection completed with more intense tones of yellow, or violet and strong accents of red and blue.

Silhouettes
Retro elegance, Jackie O romantically reworked, campus inspiration of worn denim mini blousons and high school tops paired with tulle tutus.

Fabrics
Vintage cottons, faded softened wools. Relaxed fabrics, supple denims, thick canvases, casual fleece, washed out yarn dyed checks. Sophisticated chiffons, crepes and satins.

‘Light Tech’
Back to the Future
A new beginning showing optimism and progress. Technology become playful in sweet way.

Colours
Fresh, acidic tints that evoke chemical elixirs and experimental emulsions. The flashy slightly pop colour vitamin charged smoothies; green, pink, yellow, acidic orange. They are accompanied by a second collection of grayed tints.

Silhouette
A blend of functional, modern adaptations of 60’s structured shapes. Clean lines, sharp cuts, or luxurious basics.

Fabrics
Taffeta, coated canvases, cotton, thick linens, jaquard. Textured surfaces, miniature motifs, precise graphics, technical finishes.

2010 Lighting trends

Posted in Uncategorized on December 29, 2009 by NumberSeventySix

Good looking stylish fixtures are the trend for 2010.

~Deco style lighting – hunt through secondhand markets for the real thing.
~Environmentally friendly fixtures – brightening the day for the eco conscious homeowner. Look for sustainable sourced natural materials, bamboo, wood and recycled materials. Not only will they look good but they are helping our environment and your future.
~Dimmer switches help keep energy usage down, as do automated lighting controls. Look for lighting to go more high tech as this trend continues.
~Larger elaborate light fittings – great rooms need great features.
~Unique designs – for those who have an eye for aesthetics. Creativity and uniqueness is the mantra.

Multi-dimensional room lighting is here to stay – more homeowners are becoming aware of their lighting needs; ambient, task, accent and decorative.
